Sep 2015 - Oct 2015
All children in Reception have settled well and are getting to know the school rules and expectations.
We have started our RWI sessions and so far have re-capped the sounds children were taught in Nursery. The children are practising reading and writing sounds daily.
After half term the children will be taught in differentiated groups, according to their needs.
The children have re-capped number 0-10 and learnt 11-20 as part of our “Ten Town” maths. A large focus has been placed on recognising numbers, counting objects 1:1 and matching quantities to objects. After half term we will start the “Busy Ant” maths scheme and once again the children will be grouped according to their needs.
As part of our topic “All about me” the children have had opportunities to paint self-portraits, compare eye colour and record as a class pictogram and draw a healthy plate of food. We are currently enjoying “Book Week” and learning about rhyme through the story of “Room on the Broom”.
