Literacy and language- This term we have been looking at stories that are from another culture and persuasive writing. They then wrote another chapter to continue the story with another problem to consider and resolve.
Maths- We have been concentrating on learning out 9x and 6x tables and revising 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x, 4x and 8x learnt previously in year 3. We have also been extending our knowledge of place value, addition and subtraction and fractions. We have developed our use of practical maths through measures by using more weighing using actual weights. We cooked some delicious cookies totally weighed out and mixed by the children!
Topic- Our topic for this term is Ancient Rome. The children have been learning about life in the Roman era and using this knowledge to write newspaper articles, diaries, fact files and adverts.
Science- Our topic is Sound. The children have been learning about how sound travels and how whether solids, liquids or gases affect how a sound is heard. This topic will continue into the spring term as we have a Sound Workshop planned.
