Jan 2016 - Mar 2016
Literacy and language- This term we have been looking at different forms of poetry, e.g. haiku, narrative, shape and rhyme. The children identified the key features to enable them to write their own poems.
Maths- We have been concentrating on learning our 7x and 9x tables and revising 6x, 3x, 4x and 8x. We have been learning about area and perimeter of rectangular and compound shapes using P= 2(L + B) and A= L x B. We have also been extending our knowledge of place value, addition and subtraction and statistics.
Topic- Our topic for this term is Anglo Saxons. The children have been learning about life in the Saxon era and using this knowledge to understand how they used to live. We have also learnt about continents and oceans. This will be built upon in the Summer term. Science- Our topic is The Earth, Sun and Moon which will continue into the Summer term. We will also be linking it to Tim Peake’s voyage in space. In the Summer term we will be visiting Shropshire Museum to take part in Anglo Saxon and Viking workshops and going to see Horrible Histories Invaders and Settlers at Regent Theatre in Stoke.
