Year 5

Oct 2015 - Jan 2016

In the spring term Year 5 will begin with a geography based topic on “Our Wonderful World” this will incorporate map work, factual information, amazing facts and the plants and creatures that live in our World. In science, we will then look at life cycles of the plants and animals in our World and move on to Human nature and how our bodies change and develop.

In English, we explore poetry and will write our own poems in different styles. The magic of fairy tales will be explored and then alternative tales will stimulate discussion on which we prefer and why. Our class reader and text based Focus takes us through the wardrobe into Narnia and the wonders of a land filed with mystery and adventure!

In maths we will be using 6 digit numbers in operations, naming, measuring and drawing angles, exploring decimals, division, percentages and area. Each week we will investigate in a practical way during cupcake maths.

Art links Paul Clee and the dynamic RE Ramadan celebrations. The spring term will be an exciting one for Year 5.
