EYFS- Acorns Class Nursery

Friday 26th February 

Good morning Acorn class today for our 'Funky Fingers' activity we will be doing an outdoor challenge! Mrs Pearce would like you to collect some twigs or sticks in your exercise time and then follow the instructions in our video to create a magic wand! For phonics today we will be learning the rhymes we use to write our sounds, Mrs Pearce is using a tray with rice to mark make in but you could use flour, oats or even glitter. Our story today is Little Bear and the Butterflies. We hope you really enjoy your learning today. Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton, Mrs Davis.

Thursday 25th February 

Good morning Acorn class, today for our Phonics activity we are going to work with our sound of the week 'i' and try to separate objects beginning with the 'i' and 'p' sound into separate circles. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today Mrs Pearce has cooked some spaghetti and we are going to cut the Spaghetti using our scissors and a knife and fork, if you don't have spaghetti you could also use cooked pasta or a slice of bread. Our story today is called 'One Springy Day' all about the adventures of Percy the park keeper. We hope you enjoy your learning today, Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton and Mrs Davis.

Good morning Acorn class we hope you are enjoying your remote learning activities so far this week and have really enjoyed reading your emails and seeing all the lovely photographs that you have sent us. For our story today we are reading the book 'Little Bears Spring' all about a little bear exploring what spring time is. Our 'Funky Fingers' activity today is a threading activity using our fine motor skills and you will see Mrs Pearce use lots of different methods to thread. For our Phonics activity today we will be learning our new sound of the week 'i' and thinking about what objects we know beginning with that sound. We hope you enjoy your learning today! Tuesday 23rd February 

Good morning Acorn class. Today for our Phonics activity we will be playing a 'Describe it, Find it' game using Safari animals, I will be describing the Safari animals in my bag, can you guess which animal I am describing? For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today Mrs Pearce will be using my fine motor skills to peg different items onto a washing line I have made in Nursery, can you use your pegs to peg some items on your washing line? Our story today is all about the season Spring and all the changes that we will see as Spring arrives! We hope you enjoy your learning today, Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton and Mrs Davis.

Monday 22nd February 

Good morning Acorn class we hope you have all enjoyed your half term holiday. Today for our story we are reading the book 'Rabbit's Spring Adventure'. In this story Rabbit explores the different sights and sounds of spring and this then links to our Phonics activity today where Mrs Pearce would like you to listen too and think about different sounds we can hear, including sounds you hear in your house like a ticking clock or sounds we might make to show different feelings like 'Oh' if we are surprised. I have added lots of different examples for you to try in our video. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today you will need some wool, string or a shoe lace and a lollipop stick, twig or straw for a winding activity. Remember to take lots of photographs and send them to us so we can see all your great learning! Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton and Mrs Davis.

Friday 12th February 

Good morning Acorn class, we would like to say a big well done to all our children for a fantastic half term of remote learning and a big thank you to all our parents for their support in this. Today are our last learning activities until we return after half term on the 22nd February. 

For Phonics today we have set an exciting outdoor challenge and you could also use your 'Funky Fingers' skills to help you with this! Our story today is called 'Little Acorn' which is a lovely story about the life of an Acorn. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today you will need your tweezers or a peg and Mrs Pearce is using small wooden blocks. We hope you really enjoy your learning today and remember to take lots of photographs, Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton and Mrs Davis.

Thursday 11th February 

Good morning Acorn class, today we have a very exciting 'Funky Fingers' activity to help our fine motor skills. Mrs Pearce would like you to pick some of your favourite toys and take them to your garden to do some shadow drawing, you will need some paper and colouring pens or pencils. For our Story time today we are reading the book 'What the Ladybird Heard' and this will then help us to complete our Phonics activity which is to access YouTube and search for 'What the Ladybird Heard' listening game. Can you guess which animal is making the noise? Can you remember which animals we saw in our story? We hope you really enjoy your learning today. Mrs Pearce, Mrs Clinton and Mrs Davis.

Good morning Acorn class we have a great mark making activity for you to try today in Phonics. For this activity you will need a small tray or plate, some rice, oats or flour and a paintbrush or pencil. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today we will be cutting our playdough using a knife and fork and our fine motor skills and we have a lovely story called 'Keith the cat with the magic hat' for you to enjoy. Good morning Acorn class today we are celebrating 'Chinese New Year' and Mrs Pearce will be reading you a very special story in our decorated role play area. For phonics today we will be working with sounds 'p' and 't' and separating objects into the different sound circles. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today you will need a piece of paper or card, some scissors and pegs as we make our peg hands. Good morning Acorn class, this week we have a new sound of the week to explore in phonics which is the 'p' sound. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today we will be using our fine motor skills to scoop, carry and pour the rice to fill our container and Mrs Pearce is reading our Story for today 'Come on Daisy' in our Nusery garden. Good morning Acorn class. We want to say a big well done to all our children this week because we have seen some great remote learning and lovely photographs of all your activities! Good morning Acorn class, today for our Phonics activity we are going to sing some of our favourite nursery rhymes. Can you guess the rhyme from the picture? Can you sing along and do the actions? Good morning Acorn class, today for our Phonics activity we are going to use our singing voices to sing a phonic's song that we use in Nursery called 'Listen to the sounds'. For our 'Funky Fingers' activity today we will be using our fine motor skills to thread pasta onto our straw, we will then be using our counting skills to count how many pieces of pasta we have used. Good morning Acorn class, today for our Phonics activity we will be working with our sound of last week 'a' and our new sound 't' to see if we can separate the objects into the correct sound circle. Good morning Acorn class. Today we are continuing our work on rhyming words by listening to the story 'Room on the broom', as Mrs Pearce reads the story let's see what rhyming words we can hear.
