For the last few weeks, we have been spending a lot of time with our families so today it is your chance to find out as much as you can about them!

Wednesday 22nd April

Hello Year 5 Scientists!

We know that you love Science, so we have got an additional challenge for you to work on if you dare.

Your challenge (if you choose to accept it) is to make a model linked to space.

It could be a model of a space scene, the solar system, star constellations, space rockets or something else of your own choosing. (Use your imagination.)

There is no time limit for this challenge as we understand that you will want to take your time to put lots of detail into your design and make it unique.

You will have the opportunity to earn up to 5 merits for your model so GOOD LUCK!

The history of time

We have definitely been spending our time very differently these last few weeks, but have we always told time in the same way? Now is the chance to find out.

Be a time detective!

Choose 3 of these to research

1. How did sundials, water clocks, candle clocks and sand timers measure time?

2. Make your own sundial – what do you notice about the shadows?3. When and where were the first clocks created? Can you find this on a map?

4.What are the days of the week and months of the year named after?

5. If you could travel back to any time in history, when would it be? Why would you go?

Welcome back!
